A. The United States national anthem became official in 1931 which helped boost patriotism during the Great Depression. B. The anthem becoming official impacted my life because every morning of elementary school we sang it. C. The Star-Spangled Banner becoming official still impacts America today as it is still the national anthem. It is a way people can show their patriotism and support of our troops today.
A. The invention of the Model T allowed more people to be able to afford transportation. Those who had one did not have to rely on railroad and could therefor go wherever they wanted whenever they wanted which was a great change. B. The invention led to cars becoming the main form of transportation in the US (at least in MI). This impacts me because I am driven in a car wherever I need to go and don't have to rely on a train to travel from city to city. C. The invention of the Model T left a lasting impact on the nation. It was an item them not just the richest could afford. Also, it made the US a large car hub which created many jobs today.
A. The Wright brothers invented the airplane which transformed warfare but also became a huge form of efficient transportation. B. This invention impacts my life because I typically fly to visit my family members and when I go on trips with my family. C. The invention of the airplane revolutionized cross-continental transportation. Millions of people not only use planes to travel across the country to visit loved ones but also are used often by business women and men so they can travel around the world for work in a more efficient way.
A. Our 31st president held office during The Great Depression. Although he tried to fix the situation with raising taxes and building the Hoover dam his efforts only led the nation into a worse situation. B. Although non of President Herbert Hoover's action directly impacted me, one of his quotes made me think a lot about my own actions. The quote, "Words without actions are the assassins of idealism" made me realize how it is just as bad it is to say something and not do it as it is to do or say nothing at all. C. Herbert Hoover has a lasting impact in at that the Hoover dam still exists today.
A. President Woodrow Wilson declared war on Germany bringing the United States into its first world war. If it had not been for Wilson the allies may not have won WWI which could have meant the German's attacking us on US soil and possibly not second world war. B. Wilson's actions effect me because I have family members who fought on the side of the European allies who may not have won or survived with out the United States help. C. President Wilson's actions are evident today in that his decision to put the country into war placed the United States as a major nation for the rest of the century.
A. WWI was the first world war and laid the groundwork for the second one to follow it. Also, it lead to the tank, poison gas, and airplanes into warfare. B. WWI effects me because it led to Germany's great depression (along with other's) and in term WWII with impacted my family greatly. C. Today, the changes in warfare made during world war one are still used.
A. President Theodore "Tedddy" Roosevelt not only designated many national parks that are visited often today but also confronted the tension between managers and laborers . B. Our countries 26th president effects me in that this summer I am taking a trip to visit multiple of the national recreation areas that he designated during his presidency. C. As previously stated President Theodore Roosevelt's actions, such as creating national parks, still have lasting effects today. Also, the act for social security was drafted while he was in office. Social security is a big thing to keep individuals protected especially today.
A. The Great Depression was a huge crash of the United States stock market. It put thousands of Americans out of work and into a very difficult position. Although, it did lead to positive changes in the country such as the implication of social security. B. This pivotal event effects me because it created the economy that I take part in when I buy things today. C. After The Great Depression social security was created. Social security is an important part in keeping people safe today.
A. Alice Paul fought for women's rights in the United States. Not only did she want voting rights for women, but also for them to be held in equal regard to men. B. Although currently Alice's actions don't effect me, in the near future I will be able to vote because of her. C. Alice Paul's work relates to present day as marches have recently been held to fight for women's equality.
A. The concentration camps of the Holocaust during WWII had a large impact on our nation. Not only did it push us to accept refugees, but also to work together and come up with solutions to help those in need of help. B. The Holocaust impacted me as an individual because all of my great grandparents came to the United States as European refugees. If it had not been for the Nazis prosecution of the Jews, my family may not have been forced to move to the US and would not have met each other. C. The persecution that occurred during WWII influenced international relations today. Not only did it lead to the creation of the United Nations, but also created a status about how leaders can treat innocent people that is worked to enforce today. In other words, as a result of the Nazis final solution of the second world war, standards of how people should be treated influence governments today and a union of nations to prevent future similar situations was created.
