It's that time of year, golf fans. No PGA Tour play until the Hawaii Swing. The European Tour is wrapping. All is quiet on the equipment front, as OEMs gear up for launches at the PGA Show at the end of January. What's an enthusiast to do but scour the largely uniform "Holiday Gift Guides" from major outlets largely written by PR folk pitching products? Fortunately, the end of the year is also a time when some interesting, non-news-and-product-cycle-driven writing pops up. I'll do my best to collect it here.
