I chose to put this book on my list because it had a great idea to it that I had never seen before. It wasn't your average teen dystopian novel which was refreshing to see. It also wasn't light hearted and watered down meaning that ts got into good detail but was fast. And as much as it pains me to say this, I have to say that the book was better than the movie because the actors were trash.
Hall, Jason, Chris Kyle, Scott McEwen, and Jim DeFelice. American Sniper:. Burbank, CA: Warner Bros. Pictures, 2015. Print Summary-The book "American Sniper" is about Chris Kyle who had the most career sniper kills in United States military history. His close American soldiers, whom he protected with deadly precision from rooftops and stealth positions during the Iraq War, called him “The Legend”; meanwhile, the enemy feared him so much they named him al-Shaitan (“the devil”) and placed a bounty on his head. I chose to put this book on m list mainly because I am biased to it due to the fact that my cousin was in the movie. But it actually turned out to be an amazing book although it was very sad. I thought they left a lot of good things in it. There is not much to say about it because its his life and I can't critique it so that's all I have to say about it.
Roth, Veronica. Divergent. London: HarperCollins, 2014. Print. Summary- Divergent is about a girl name Tris who lives in a dystopian society where there are different "factions" that separate people into different groups. Tris is in the faction Dauntless which is the faction that creates soldiers putting them though extensive training to be fearless. Tris is followed throughout her training, but what comes after is something she was never trained for. I chose this book because it had good plot twists, romance, and action. I liked this book because it was able to create relationships some good, some bad. Then it would create action feeding off of those relationships being able to tear you apart with betrayal and plot twists. One reason that this isn't my favorite book ever is that it is a bit predictable and it's kind of corny, but other than that it is a good read.
Lore, Pittacus. I Am Number Four. New York, NY: Harper, 2014. Print. Summary- John Smith seems like an ordinary teenager, living a normal life with his guardian Henri in Paradise, Ohio. But for John, keeping a low profile is essential, because he is not an ordinary teenager. He’s an alien from the planet Lorien, and he’s on the run. A group of evil aliens from the planet Mogadore, who destroyed his world, are hunting anyone who escaped. And he is fourth on the hit list. I chose this book to be in my top five because it had a great mixture of sci-fi, action, and romance, which is crazy because I usually hate romance books and I really liked this book. This book was also very good because it was easy to relate with, he told stories of things that he would go through that any of us could have gone through. The book also had a very good image to it without have to waste its time on a tone of description.
Lake, Nick. There Will Be Lies. New York: Bloomsbury, 2016. Print. Summary- "There Will Be Lies" by Nick Lake follows a girl named Shelby who is being chased by her "raged" dad. She goes on the journey to figuring out who is telling the truth and who isn't. I choose this book to be in my top five because it had a ton of plot twist and it is planned out perfectly, it would also keeps you on your feet because you never know what she is dreaming, thinking, or signing wither her being deaf, also making it a very hard book to read.
