Empire Company has announced management changes to its executive committee. The changes are part of the final phase of the company's Project Sunrise transformation initiative.

St-Laurent is appointed to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), Full Service. He assumes responsibility for merchandising, retail operations, and supply chain across the company's full service and community banners, including Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Thrifty Foods and Foodland.

Michael Vels, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is expanding his role, with Empire's Information Technology team now reporting to him. Walmart plans to increase prices due to U.S.-China trade war

Walmart has said that it will be raising the prices of many of its products as a result of a trade war between two of the world’s largest economies.

Retail expert Bruce Winder said that if Walmart is considering increasing the prices of their products, other stores will likely follow. “It’s going to be across the board, pretty much all retails or almost all retailers will have to raise prices because the bottom line is they buy a lot of products come from China.”
