A) Tap dancing was and still is a form of entertainment and a form of art. Tap dancing allowed the nation to express their dancing abilities not only visually but through audio. Tap dancing was popular in the 20th century. B) I personally tap dance and I really enjoy it. It’s my favorite form of dance and gives me the ability to be creative. C) People are still to this day using tap dancing as a way to help cope with this world’s anxieties.
A) Pearl Harbor was what dragged the United States into WWII. This war showcased the extreme unfair treatment to Jews and other minority groups in Germany but also showed error in the U.S. by putting Japanese in internment camps. This war lead to the Cold War. B) I am a Jehovah's Witness and my religion was one which people were put into concentration camps for. I see how lucky i am to worship freely. C) WWII stopped evil from taking power. What would our life be like if the Allies lost? If this war never happened would we have had certain mistakes to learn from?
A) World War I put America in scary state. The time period caused many causalities and obviously caused much distress to the solider's families. WWI innovated new technology and expanded our navy. B) WWI changed America and who knows what life would be like without it. But with it happening, I live the way I do. so if it didn't happen I may have a different way of life. C) The war did give the U.S. new technology, but we see now to horrors of war. Today, we learn from this awful time period.
A) Robert Johnson, though not while making his music, gave major influence to America's culture. He was a traveling musician, mainly in juke joints so he wasn't a major success at the time. But, again, later on he had a major impact on Rock and Roll music and blues music. B) I own his album and in listening to bands such as Led Zeppelin and Cream, they've remade some of his songs. So, it's interesting to see that. C) Johnson gave the United States much of it's music that people love today. Plus, In 1990 Spin magazine rated him first in its list of "35 Guitar Gods." In 2008 Rolling Stone magazine ranked him fifth on their list of "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."
A) Ernest Hemingway was an author that had a major influence on the 20th century and continues to influence people today. He enlisted as a World War I ambulance driver. He saved many lives, at the time he may have not been making intellectual writings but these experiences gave him the ability to do so. B) Ernest Hemingway's powerful writings gives me a new perspective of things I may not have thought about before. C) People are still reading Ernest Hemingway's books and still enjoy them, and are still learning from his novels.
A) The Great Depression was the greatest economic downturn this country ever faced. Not only did people use their jobs, but people lost more and more of their children. The conditions were horrible and the U.S. really had of come together to get out of this dark era. B) The Great Depression shows me how grateful I should be for the living conditions I have. I have opportunity that these people didn't have. C) Today, people look at this time and learn. In these desperate times, we needed more people to step up and do certain jobs and it showcased the ability of women and other minorities.
A) Glenn Miller gave entertainment to soldiers and everyday people. he was one who through his music was able to get "In the Mood' of happiness. Glenn Miller gave soldiers hope. He performed for them in which released stress and tension that was within them. In fact, on his way to a performance he got shot down by an opposing war plane. B) Glenn Miller provided me with entertainment that i thoroughly enjoy. His music makes me think back to this time period and it makes me realize how much improvement was happening and it makes me grateful for our improvements. C) Glenn Miller gives many people the opportunity to do activities they love such as swing. His music still gives many people inspiration to fulfill their goals as a musician. Overall, Glenn Miller provided happiness too many people and is continuing to do so.
A) Jackie Robinson was the first African American to be a Major League Baseball player. Once the Dodgers signed Robinson, this didn't completely end segregation in the Baseball world, but it definitely was a HUGE step. More and more teams were signing African Americans. B) I love seeing people who everyone told couldn't do it, and then they do and thrive. Jackie Robinson is one of those heroes. He gives me inspiration for if someone tells me I can't do it, I prove them wrong. C) Jackie Robinson made African Americans do something they love. Robinson was put in the Hall of Fame in 1962, he is a person I think everyone can learn something from. He opened doors for many.
A) Jazz music effected nearly all aspects of society. From the birthing place of Jazz (New Orleans) it continued to move upward. Jazz effected fashion, poetry, forms of art, industry and something Jazz music accomplished was releasing racial tension after war. B) I personally really enjoy Jazz music and swing dancing, so I wouldn't be able to/ even know about these joys without Jazz. Furthermore, music makes me truly happy and this genre is one of my favorites. Jazz made me fascinated with learning more about history. C) We, to this day, still listen to Jazz and continue to perform it. I think that Jazz lets everyone just be as one and still release racial tension.
A) America really became a new era after World War I because there was many new progressions therefore being titled the Progressive Era. Without this era, we wouldn't have all the opportunity and technology as we do now. B) The Progressive movement mainly focused on female suffrage, education, working conditions, unionization, industrialization and child labor. Without this era, women wouldn't have the opportunities that we have now. In fact, because of how child labor and with being a girl, I may not be in schools and have to have gone through life without an education. C) Today's life is very different because without it, the United States may not have many new improvements that we still see happening and women may not have the right to an education and/or children wouldn't have an education.
