Some schools all around the world have an outfit that they make every student wear, whether they like it or not. They say that it is so students spend more time on education rather than worrying about their appearance. As the article said, “Uniforms keep the focus on learning, not on clothing”. Having a uniform for every student causes almost all expression and individuality to be taken away from them. The relates to “Harrison Bergeron” because this is how they got everyone to be equal. They put the handicaps on the stronger, more powerful individuals to make them even with the rest of the world. For example, George had a handicap in his ear to keep him from “taking unfair advantage of [his] brain”. This all leads to no individuality and freedom being restricted. It is important to pay attention to these dystopian elements in our world. This is because if we don’t know what is going on, soon none of us will have any distinction from each other, and the sooner we know it we will be living in a dystopian society.
