Treat others the way you want to be treated

The golden rule has stuck with me my entire life, many say it is the key to being a nice person.

The Art of Happiness

The Art of Happiness

This book goes into the deeper parts of being kind to people. This book is connected to my theme more than all of my connections. It really makes me think about how I act around people. My actions around people have really changed.

Curveball: The Year I Lost My Grip

Curveball: The Year I Lost My Grip

This book is about boy that hurt himself so bad he had to quit baseball. He meets this girl in his new photography class and he decides to take up photography as his new hobby. The girl in his class is very nice to him. One day they're assigned a project that takes time outside of class. He thinks this might be his break. Lets just say they end up dating. This book connects to my theme because of the kindness that the girl had towards the Peter. She didn't have to be nice to Peter, she decided to be.

Facing the Giants

Facing the Giants

This movie connects to my theme in one way. The main plot is that a underdog football team beats the best one in their conference. They use friendship and loyalty to get through the tough season. They rely on each other to defeat the best team. They also use something people think is a touchy topic; religion. They pray before every game and go out there playing for the man above. A team that loses a lot you would think the guys would get frustrated and fight each other. No, no they don't. They treat each other like brothers. That's really all a man could ask for.

UP

UP

This movie has so many connections to my theme. Lots of people said that I look like the little boy in the movie so I decided to watch it. The old man in the beginning is very irritated with the boy. Towards the middle the old man grows to like him a little more. In the end he actually ends up saving him from a pack of dogs. This relates to my theme because the old man in the end treats "Russell" like he is his own child. I can relate this to one of my friends because he was in sort of a weird relationship with his step-father. They then grew closer and became great friends.

Frozen

Frozen

This movie really explains being kind in a nutshell. The golden rule is pretty much the main plot of the story. When I thought of my theme, this movie was the first one that came to mind. The whole movie reminds me of my childhood. The whole kindness and friendship bond really makes me remorse my friends and family from then. In this movie Olaf is so nice to the other people. This connects to my theme because Olaf really does treat people the right way. A lot of people really trashed this movie but I believe that it has a really good moral to it.

Because of Winn-Dixie

Because of Winn-Dixie

This book is about friendship. The relationship between the dog and the little girl is amazing. The little girl treats the dog like a human would treat a human. When I read this book in 4th grade, I loved it so much. It really made me think about the relationship between my dogs and I. The treatment towards the dog also relates to the golden rule; like my theme. The dog is also very loving back to her. My theme couldn't relate more to this book.

Kind World

Kind World

This podcast shows how kindness can effect everyone around you. Keeping a smile on your face can make the people around you happy too. When I see my friends laughing, smiling, and be kind to me it automatically makes me want to be happy. This podcast also goes deeper into how kindness becomes a helping hand to those who really need that kindness to get through the day. If the world was more kind we wouldn't have as many problems. The golden rule connects with this because you have to be kind to treat people the right way, the golden rules roots are being kind.

Matthew 7:12

Matthew 7:12

This bible verse in the book of Matthew was the root of the golden rule, it's pretty much where it all started. This verse is the one I go to when I feel like I haven't been being so nice to others. People don't understand the importance of this verse. I have found that many think more about what they want themselves to feel like. They don't really think about the other person. There are some other verses that mean the same thing but this is the main one.

The golden rule connected to ASP

The golden rule connected to ASP

This book has so many different themes to it but the one I found that meant most to me was to treat others the way you want to be treated. Throughout the book, Gene thinks that Finny is always out to get him. After all Finny is just trying to be a good friend. I like to think about when Finny and Gene go to the beach on there bikes and sleep in the dunes because it makes me think about when I was a kid and felt left out, there was always one person that would include me and make me feel better. Finny might have been a bit childish but he did treat others the way he would want to be treated. Gene did overreact by jostling the branch and making Finny fall over.

Letter from a Birmingham Jail

Letter from a Birmingham Jail

In this letter, Martin Luther King, Jr. writes about his experiences at Birmingham Jail. He mostly explains to be kind and be peaceful while protesting. Many people say that MLK's way of protesting is the way everyone should protest when there is something they don't agree with. MLK was always looking to do the right thing. When you do the right thing it makes everything in life much easier. This time was not a very bright one, civil right were in tact and many people were not happy about it even being discussed. This is why I respect him so much, he treated the people that were calling him names and mocking him like they were his friends. The golden rule was Martin Luther King's motto to his entire life.
