Sleeping is one of my favorite things to do. I love the feeling of curling up under the covers in bed. Sleeping is a great experience for me. Mostly because I haven’t had a nightmare since I was seven. I don’t know! I just never seen to have nightmares. My dreams are usually crazy and mixed up in worlds that don’t even exist. There is one thing that I dread. I’m in the middle of a good dream and bam! The alarm clock starts wailing at me to get up. You get tired of pressing the snooze button off after a while. I like to think that I’m a pretty fast sleeper. I’m probably not. At night I always think. I think and I think and I think. Over time, I do fall asleep though. And dread the horrid sound that awaits me in the morning.
New York City would have to be my favorite city. Though I have only been there once, I will never forget the hustle and bustle on the busy NYC streets. It’s no surprise why New York City is one of the most popular cities in America. With the countless and huge shops, everyone is guaranteed to find something that fits their taste. I love the heart of New York City, and Central Park, a small window to nature from the always crowded city. I would one day like to visit Broadway, not to mention Manhattan. Another one of my favorite places in the Big Apple is the 9/11 memorial. It was breathtaking to see where the Twin Towers once stood, since I had not been born yet. I have to call New York City one of my favorite places. And I can’t wait to visit again.
Most people are familiar with the country Mexico. I have visited many times, and I must say it is worth it. My father was born and raised in Mexico, so we visit often. My grandparents on my father’s side live there as well. One of the benefits of going is that I get to improve my Spanish. I can speak the language, and almost fluently, but there are a few ups and downs here and there. The most astonishing thing about Mexico are the beaches. The sand is soft as silk and white as snow. The water one some beaches is turquoise, so you can see why I am always so eager to go. For anyone who wants to sit in the sun and relax, Mexico is your dream destination.
I could move away a thousand miles across the ocean, and Virginia would still be my home. I was born here, and I have always lived here. Home. I’m proud of my home state. The landscape is beautiful, and there is so much to do here, with amusement parks like Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, and Virginia Beach, there is so much to do! We’re not the biggest state, that’s for sure, but that doesn’t signify anything. Bigger isn’t always better. And, yeah, yeah, our sports teams haven’t really been in ‘The Zone’ lately, but, what matters is that we are unified. As a state, but also as a country. I love it here, I love my home. We are lovers, and Virginia is our home.
Slovakia is a small country in central Europe. I visit Slovakia every summer, due to my mother being born there. I stay there the whole summer, with my grandma, grandpa, great grandma, two aunts, and baby cousin. Spending two and a half months in Europe gives you many opportunities to learn. Slovakia is not a very well known country, but it is beautiful nonetheless. Castles towering upon every hill, cities lying in the shadows of the looming mountains, and the church bells singing at every corner. The castles would have to be my favorite part, considering that they could be over 400 years old. Since the castles usually lay up upon mountains, it takes a lot of effort to get up there. But it has proven, countless times that the walk has always been worth it.
YouTube is a great way to pass the time if your bored. There are so many things on there that there is always going to be something that interests you. Every song, movie trailer, book trailer, (etc…) is on YouTube. I like to write. And usually while I write I like to listen to music. Preferably instrumental, because the words in songs can distract me. My favorite ‘writing music’ that I listen to is a two hour loop of ‘See What I’ve Become’ by Zack Hemsey. Also, when I finish a book, I like to check a book talk/review on YouTube to see other people's thoughts. I also use YouTube for How to’s. If my friend has a birthday coming up, I can just find a cute, simple DIY. If you're looking for any kind of video I can almost guarantee you it will be on YouTube.
Netflix always has some way to entertain me. With the countless movies and TV shows, everyone can find something they love! Netflix streams different shows from different show networks. It’s great because you can watch all your favorite shows with no ads. It also saves your place if you stop at any given time. The only problem with Netflix is that if you want to watch a new season of your favorite show, you have to wait FOREVER until it comes out on Netflix. But when it finally does come out on Netflix, you can binge watch it all without even having to touch the screen. It may not be as great as reading, but Netflix will always be a top entertainer.
The Flash is a TV series I never saw myself watching. The ‘superhero’ topic never really appealed to me. But one day, I was just so bored that I went onto Netflix and watched the Flash. After the first episode, I was intrigued. The thing that I like about The Flash is that it is scientifically accurate. Another thing that I liked about it was the characters. They seemed very down to earth and calm, not that serious team you usually see in superhero movie. Now let me sum up the plot of the whole show: There is a guy named Barry Allen whose mother was murdered 14 years ago. Now there was this particle accelerator explosion that gave him super speed and now he has to take down superhumans. I recommend this show to anyone who has a need for speed.
Throne of Glass is a series by Sarah J. Maas. I found myself laughing, weeping, and raging over these books. It’s the kind of circumstance where the books get better as you move on, but i’m not sure if that’s actually a good thing. This series holds the record for how many times I’d ever cried during books. Over the course of the seven books, I have cried 15 times. (Assassin’s Blade, 1; Crown of Midnight, 2; Heir of Fire,1; Queen of Shadows, 2; Empire of Storms, 9) so as you can tell, this series was VERY frustrating. But even though it was, It is my favorite series. Some things I really liked about these books were the characters, the world, and plot. I feel like the characters all had their own imperfections, and that is important to me. The world was well built, and the plot was clear. A must read for fantasy lovers!
My number one hobby is reading. I love to feel the anticipation and anxiety when I turn the page and await what wondrous words will melt my heart. I find that the joy of reading is not the lesson that comes at the end, but the feeling of escape when you read. If the book is truly great, your mind can intertwine into the story like puzzle pieces. Of course, we all need to focus on our life goals, but life can be stressful. I think escaping to an imaginary world can help you forget that stress and remember to breathe. My favorite place to buy books is on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Barnes and Noble is one of my favorites because I feel like they cure all your reading needs. From bookmarks to reading lights. I can always find what I need. Reading is a mental cure for me. As a wise one once said, “I could survive well enough on my own given the proper reading materials.”
