From all the sources above, i can conclude that Stalin is NOT a savior of the USSR. This is proven as people were scared of Stalin and were willing to be accused of having committed a crime , he showed how many aspects of how death occurred , he also sacrificed his people for his own needs, did not fed peasants well and also made people suffer and were killed wrongly.
The idea of this source is to show how the Great Terror looks and that many were killed.i chose this source as it summarises the Great Terror. This shows that Stalin was not a savior to USSR as people suffered and were killed wrongly.
The source shows a newspaper article that shows animals lying down on the ground ,died and the girl at the left looking lost and hungry due to the fact that they do not have enough food to eat, thus showing the poor decision that Stalin has made-selling the food to other country instead of feeding his own people. This source was chosen as it told me how the other world views Stalin and it is also more fair as most newspaper publisher were controlled by Stalin thus it won't be reliable. This source shows that Stalin's rule was not beneficial for the USSR as the peasants were not well-fed.
The social cartoon above shows "the great pyramid" made out of skulls . This shows that the death rate was high due to the lack of food and also poor standards of living. Stalin wanted the nation to move towards industrialization and thus people were moved to the cities to live. However, the government do not allow people to buy land. Thus many had to live in cramped places with poor facilities which spread diseases and may cause many to die or starve to death due to the lack of food. The source was chosen as it showed many aspects of how death occurred. This source showed that Stalin was not beneficial for the USSR.
The politician cartoon above shows that as Stalin was suspicious of the Red Army due to Trotsky's strong connections with the army. This is so as Trotsky had been in charge of the army and has gained the army's confidence and respect due to the victory of the civil war.As Stalin needed an army that was loyal to him and not to Trotsky, Stalin hence accused them for treason. I choose this source as it showed that Stalin sacrificed his people for his own needs. Hence, Stalin was not a savior of the USSR as the army was later made up of inexperienced and young soldiers which proved to be a less sufficient army.
The politician cartoon above shows 4 identified men. They are saying that they are guilty and are traitors who attempted to betray the Soviet Union. After researching and also reading up, i found out that they did not actually committed the crime that they confessed to. However, i found out that they actually confessed after being tortured or having their families being threatened. This showed that Stalin's rule did not benefit USSR as it showed that people were willing to be executed and accused of committing a crime that they did not do due to fear and also to protect their families. This hence shows that people were scared of Stalin and were willing to be accused of having committed a crime.
This is a photo of Stalin with Nikolai Yezhov. However it has been edited and Nikolai Yezhov has been edited out. He was edited out as he was seen as a threat to Stalin. Most or a large portion of the Soviet history were rewritten to boost Stalin's status. By doing so Stalin's rivals were discredited as disloyal counter-revolutionaries at the same time. Photographs like the source above were edited to remove the appearance of unwanted people. I choose this source as it had been used to make people of USSR see Stalin as their disputable leader of the USSR. This hence showed that Stalin was a savior of the USSR.
