This picture shows Stalin who looks powerful and benevolent.

This picture shows people cheering for stalin and most of the pictures were of him . This shows that photographs were edited to remove the appearance of his rivals and to glorify his significance which shows that all the mass media (radio, films, television) were controlled by the state and were only allowed to promote the Stalinist message which made people lose their freedom because Stalin was everything and even if they wanted to disagree they would not be able to do so as they will be killed. This source is chosen because it clearly illustrated the social impact of Stalin's USSR. This picture shows Stalin carrying a baby who is carrying the Soviet Union flag which shows that Stalin is the father of Soviet Union it acts as a propaganda to show that Stalin is a great leader so that people will be supportive of him. I chose this source because it clearly illustrated the political impact of Stalin's USSR. This source shows that Stalin's rule was not beneficial to the USSR because he is depicted as someone he is not which will make people perceive him as a good and nice person when he is not so people will be brainwashed into thinking that he is good and will support him, whereby they will lose their freedom.
In conclusion, I feel that Stalin was not a saviour of the USSR. This is because even though he did help to increase the USSR's economical situation at that time, but he did many more evil things than good things just so people do not oppose him so that he could have full control over them. During the Great Famine, money which was collected from taking the grains from the people was not given to them instead, it was used for industrial development to boost the USSR's economy which led to the deaths of over 7 million peasants.Furthermore, there were purges and show trials of people who were of threat or disloyal or opposed Stalin. This made the rest of the people to be forced to be loyal to him which made them live in fear and also lose their freedom. Many intellectuals were also killed as they were smart and might organise a revolution against Stalin so, Stalin killed them so there was less threat to him. However, these killings led to goods produced having lower quality and also weak leadership in the army. Thus, Stalin was not a saviour of the USSR because he made many people die, live in fear, brainwashed them and even lose their freedom just so he could ensure that people were loyal to him.
