Due to the great terror , Stalin lost a lot of people to help boost industrialisation which affected his country as they did not have enough workers in the work force. They lacked especially skilled workers who are educated as majority of the people who were executed were skilled workers with education.I chose this source as it shows that Stalin has doomed himself by killing the people who contributed the most towards industrialisation.Stalin did not benefit the USSR through killing all this people as the he killed were key contributors to his five year plan.
This source how Stalin used propaganda to spread his dominance across Russia and also letting people know that he is the rightful successor of Stalin. He makes claims such as caring a lot for the people of Russia . The propaganda has made changed the impression of many Russian people of him and some artists has also decided to paint paintings of Stalin.I chose this source as it shows how effective propaganda was at brainwashing the Russian people. This did not really benefit the Russian people as many were brainwashed into thinking that Stalin was a good guy but in reality he had killed many people to rise up in the ranks.
This source describes how Stalin killed many people such as Stalin being suspicious of the red army due to Trostsky having connections with the army.Stalin knew that the Red Army was loyal to Trotsky and he needed an army that is loyal to him instead.Hence,he tortured and killed many high position commanders and officers. He then proceeded to promote new officers that will be loyal to him as they are inexperienced.I chose this source as it shows how ruthless Stalin is as he killed many people for his own personal needs. It did not benefit the soviet union as Stalin only instilled fear into many of the people living in the Soviet union
Stalin decided to construct the Trans Siberian Railway as it be able to not only transport passengers across the whole of russia but it will also be able to transport materials such as coal and steel across hostile terrains of Russia.I chose this source as it depicts how advanced people were in Russia to construct such a huge and long railway system across the whole of Russia. This definitely benefitted Russia as it made travelling more convenient and also a lot faster than before.
Stalin wanted to make the Soviet Union more advanced through collectivisation . He wanted the crops to be harvested through a more automated and advanced way so that less manpower is needed for the harvesting.Tractors were then used to harvest the crops grown and not only does it make harvesting easier but it also allowed more crops to be grown.Hence, through the usage of tractors and machines less workers were needed at farms which then convinced them to go to cities to get a job as a factory worker. This source was chosen to show how Stalin improved the methods of farming in the Soviet Union through the usage of machines.Stalin has no doubt benefitted the Soviet Union a lot as this way of harvesting is like hitting 2 birds with one stone .When machines are used , more crops can be planted and harvested which allows more farmers to go to the cities and work as factory workers increasing the amount of goods being produced by the factories.
This video shows that Stalin decided to start the five year plan as he realised that the Soviet Union was far behind the other Western Powers and were lacking in many areas such as industrialisation.Hence, Stalin started the five year plan in order to curb this big problem as he feared that the Western Powers will one day crush them due to their weakness. This video is chosen as it shows that goals that Stalin had in mind in order to transform a once weak Russia under Tsar's rule into a powerful industrialized country where everything is advanced. This source shows that Stalin benefitted Russia a lot with the five year plan as Russia unlike the many other countries around them as managed to escape the great depression. Thus, their economy was not affected and almost everyone living in Russia was employed.
Stalin has boosted the economy of the USSR and changed the country into a modern country where everything is automated and advanced. He even avoided the great depression as the USSR is a communist country. He created jobs for many people, unfortunately their pay was fixed. However, Stalin also brought terror into the lives of people living in the USSR by killing anyone who is suspected of not being loyal to him which is something cruel and ruthless to do.Hence, Stalin is not the saviour of the USSR as a great leader would never kill his own people even if they are not loyal to him/her.
