Tropical cyclone is one of the most destructive natural forces on earth, they are also known as hurricanes. They need a disturbance usually a thunderstorm, water at least 80 Fahrenheit and plenty of moisture. The strongest hurricane is category 5, it has winds at 157 mph or higher.
Hurricane Harvey made more than 30 tornadoes across the Texas Gulf coast in late august. In Texas when it happened, they issued 156 tornado warnings. Large, rotating thunderstorms are called super-cells, they can form in an environment with significant wind shear. That is why most tornadoes are linked to such big storms.
Mosses in Eastern Canada have been frozen in ice. But since temperatures are rising that ice has melted away. And that moss is telling us that it has not got that warm in ten thousands of years. The moss that they found, Miller likes to call it zombie moss. Because they die then a year or two later they come back to life.
Under the antarctic ice is 91 tall volcanoes. They are about 1.9 miles under the ice. Even though this is a interesting discovery it also isn’t so good. Because it might speed up the shrinking of antarctic endangered ice.
