Calgary Co-op buying Community Natural Foods

Calgary Co-op is buying the retail business of Community Natural Foods in a bid to expand its brand and source more locally grown goods, it said Monday. The deal was needed to help Co-op’s food business survive in the long term by offering more unique products and strengthening its financial performance, chief executive Ken Keelor said in a release.

Old Navy comes ashore to Aberdeen Mall

The clothing retailer Old Navy is coming to Kamloops. According to City of Kamloops building permit applications listed on its website, Aberdeen Mall applied for a permit on October 31 in order to make improvements for the Gap-owned clothing store. The mall is filling a vacancy left with the nationwide closure of Sears stores. Previously, Old Navy’s nearest location was Orchard Park Mall in Kelowna.
