Asian supermarket adds flavour, generates buzz in Edmonton | CBC News

The opening of an Asian supermarket called H Mart in south Edmonton is creating a lot of excitement in the Korean community and beyond, as people say the store will give them more choices when it comes to selecting culturally appropriate foods.

The U.S.-based grocery chain, specializing in Korean products, has locations in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Its Edmonton location opened Thursday morning at the South Park Shopping Centre on Calgary Trail. On opening day, the line-up stretched around the block.


B.C. allows imported wine on licensed grocery store shelves

Imported wine could soon be coming to a grocery store near you thanks to the B.C. government changing its laws to allow licensed grocery stores in the province to carry wines from around the world effective July 8.

The news was expected given that the government in October said that it would end by November 1 its policy that restricts licensed grocery stores to only be allowed to carry British Columbia Vintners Quality Alliance (BC VQA) wines on shelves.
