Save-on-Foods announces executive changes | Grocery Business News

Save-On-Foods has named Jamie Nelson, formerly vice president of retail, as its new executive vice president.

According to a release from the company, Nelson will now oversee the following functions:

-marketing,
-public affairs and corporate social responsibility,
-people and communications, led by vice president,
-merchandising and inventory management,
-health, innovation and private brands,
-real estate and store development.

Politicians float idea of closing downtown Liquor Mart

Closing the downtown Liquor Mart location as a means of combatting both downtown safety and addictions issues has the support of Mayor Brian Bowman.

Liberal leader Dougald Lamont floated the idea of stopping retail sales at the Ellice Avenue and Hargrave Street location on Tuesday, saying it sells a highly-disproportionate amount of budget sherry with a high alcohol content.

Lamont said after question period Wednesday that it was Bowman who suggested closing the location should be considered.
