Well so you are here. For what ever reason you want to buy a DNA test. Which one do you want? They all have challenges to over come. 1) AncestryDNA The first test i would suggest is ancestryDNA. With out a doubt they are the best. You get a really in-depth look at your ancestry, it has the biggest data base and you can export your raw DNA to other websites. The downfall to ancestryDNA is that they do not have a chromosome browser (as of April 2018). Any one knows if your are serious about finding cousins/ancestors this is something you will need to rely on. You do not have the ability to email your DNA cousins directly, and the internal email on the website isnt always reliable. 2) FamilyTreeDNA is the second choice i would go with. They seem to accept transfers from almost all other sites. You also get the chromosome browser. Another benefit is the ability to email directly. The down fall with FTDNA is that they do not have the DNA database as big as Ancestry. 3) 23andMe is one of the other sites that is a major site. I find 23andme to be the least attractive to a serious researcher. I have had the least amount of people respond to my emails. Although, it is very attractive to a visual person. So over all if you want to map a tree with DNA cousins Ancestry is the way to go. *We participate in Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, and links to amazon.com, and may earn a commission on your purchase at no cost to you, all links you should assume to be affiliate.
