Human Impact on the Great Barrier Reef - PDF

This source is a report by the University of Michigan in the US about Australia's Great Barrier Reef. UM has produced a few of these PDF reports with this particular one looking at the effect of pollution on the Great Barrier Reef. This source is reasonably thorough and covers the different types of pollution and the different effects they have on the reef including runoff, sediment and pesticides. This is a source I would trust and cite when researching.

The Great Barrier Reef by James Woodford: Pan Macmillan, Australia 9781405039963 Trade Pap

"The Great Barrier Reef" by James Woodford is a well-respected book on the subject of Australia's Great Barrier Reef. This description of the book includes "James Woodford wanted to understand the real reef in all its complexities and along its entire, extraordinary length. For a year he worked and dived with marine biologists, exploring it from the coral outpost of Lord Howe Island in the south to the crocodile haunted waters at the reef's northern boundary in Cape York. " Unfortunately I do not have access to this book at this time however it is available from the Geelong Regional Library. Based on reviews of the book and the fact that it contains 388 pages I believe this book would be very helpful when researching this topic.

CNN is a well-respected news corporation in the US that has produced a report on the United Nation's World Heritage organisation giving Australia one year to fix the current situation on the reef. This article covers many aspects of the reef such as its rich biodiversity and its history. The main point of the article is to create interest in the "devastation" caused by "years of neglect". CNN is a trusted source and in this case, takes an unbiased viewpoint of the situation and presents the facts in a way most people can easily understand through the use of pictures and visuals.
