He is a well known soldier because he wrote a lot of poetry while he was serving, and the poetry was mostly about the war. B) This connects to this time period because WWI was a big issue for the whole world during this time. Also, poems and other writing like his are useful primary resources that people today can use to learn more about what was happening. C) I wonder if Graves was ever scared when serving, and I wonder what inspired him to start writing poems about the war. This happened when she was chosen by an Army caption named Georges Ladoux who said he would give all information that she finds to the French government. In 1917, Hari was accused of being a German spy which lead her to be executed by the firing squad since France realized that she had been playing both sides. A). John J. Pershing was born in Missouri on September 13th, 1860. Pershing is best known for being the military leader in World War one that led the American Expeditionary Force through Europe. He was able to have such a big role in this due to his fights in the Indian wars, Spanish-American wars, and the Philippines insurrection. Pershing died in 1948, and he is buried with honors at Arlington National Cemetery. B) This connects to the first half of the 1900's because WWI was a very big issue during this time period, and without amazing leaders like Pershing, the war might've been a lot worse for the U.S. C) I wonder if Pershing was ever scared in the wars or if he would ever show emotion on the battlefields. D) Something interesting to me is that when he was in the U.S Military Academy, he was chosen to be class president even though he wasn't a good student and was placed 30th in his class out of 77 people. He was chosen as class president because everyone could see how good of a leader he was and was going to be.
